Squash From The Mosque
Celebrating 3 years of funded activity with our Muslim Women’s Network
⭐️ 50 local Muslim women introduced to Squash at Abbeydale.
⭐️ 20 local Muslim women regularly playing across three female only sessions each week (mostly female coach led), and integrated into regular club sessions.
⭐️ 6 Muslim women experienced playing in Abbeydale women’s teams.
⭐️ New Muslim women are still attending beginners sessions; the Network is still growing!
⭐️ In 2024 Abbeydale was named England Squash ‘Club of the Year 2023’ for our work on inclusion.
⭐️ Abbeydale led the delivery of a Northern Muslim Women’s gathering in Halifax where 32 women from 4 clubs played and socialised together in a friendly competition: with food!
⭐️ We have a vibrant WhatsApp group for the Muslim Women’s Squash Network.
⭐️ We have benefitted from financial support: from Abbeydale Squash & Fitness, England Squash, Sport England, Tecnifibre UK, and Kanso shoes.
If you are a Muslim Women in Sheffield and want to come and play squash at Abbeydale, please contact Jo Wallis in the first instance.
